Partnerships & Opportunities
For Funders & Investors:
Be part of a scalable, global movement that transforms Ocean awareness into measurable impact. The Ocean Literacy Project offers a unique opportunity for funders and investors to accelerate Ocean education, climate action, and community resilience at scale. By supporting the rollout of this distributed training system, partners directly contribute to building Ocean-Literate Communities, empowered networks of people who understand, value, and act to protect the Ocean that sustains us all.
Your investment helps us:
Scale a proven model of Ocean education through a train-the-trainer framework adaptable across sectors, from schools and youth organisations to businesses and coastal communities.
Build local capacity by equipping educators, practitioners, and community leaders with the skills and resources to deliver Ocean literacy in their own cultural and geographic context.
Generate measurable outcomes through robust evaluation using pre/post-learning surveys, behavioural tracking, and ESG-aligned metrics that evidence real change for funders and partners.
Foster regenerative partnerships that link science, education, and enterprise, connecting community-led learning with corporate ESG and TNFD commitments.
Leverage co-branding and visibility opportunities, showcasing your organisation as a catalyst for Ocean-positive transformation through events, reports, and media collaborations.
By joining as a funder or investor, you become part of a global movement driving education as a foundation for change, transforming awareness into tangible, evidence-based action for the Ocean, climate, and communities worldwide.
For Corporates:
We provide training that connects leaders and the workplace with nature and supports ESG, biodiversity net gain, and regenerative strategies. The Ocean Literacy Project helps organisations embed Ocean positive actions directly across associates and employees, sustainability and leadership programmes, translating complex environmental science into practical, strategic insight.
Our experiential learning additions blend scientific literacy with embodied, nature-based experiences that reconnect leaders and the workforce to the natural systems their businesses depend on. Whether delivered through corporate workshops, leadership retreats, or digital training, each programme is designed to inspire reflection, responsibility, and regenerative action.
For corporates, this approach:
Strengthens ESG strategies by integrating nature and Ocean literacy into employee engagement, risk management, and disclosure frameworks such as TNFD, CSRD, and SBTN.
Supports Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) commitments, helping leaders and teams understand how Ocean and terrestrial systems underpin ecosystem services and long-term business resilience.
Builds sustainability capability across the organisation, equipping employees to recognise nature-related dependencies, assess impact, and make informed decisions aligned with regenerative business principles.
Enhances leadership culture, enabling executives to connect purpose with practice, transforming sustainability from a compliance exercise into a lived organisational value.
For Communities & NGOs:
We co-design training with local communities, supporting resilience, tourism, and conservation initiatives. The Ocean Literacy Project works in partnership with communities, NGOs, and local organisations to ensure that Ocean education is culturally grounded, community-led, and action-focused. Our approach recognises that effective Ocean stewardship begins with local ownership, lived experience, and meaningful participation.
Each programme is co-designed with local partners to reflect the community’s environmental realities, cultural heritage, and economic context. This ensures that learning is not only scientifically accurate but also socially relevant and multi-directional with local knowledge, livelihoods, and identity.
Through this collaborative approach, the Ocean Literacy Project helps communities to:
Build resilience to climate change and coastal challenges by strengthening understanding of Ocean-climate connections, ecosystem services, and adaptation strategies.
Enhance regenerative tourism by integrating Ocean literacy and conservation values into tourism operations, guiding practices, and visitor education.
Support conservation and restoration initiatives such as coral reef restoration and mangrove replanting
By working alongside communities and NGOs, the Ocean Literacy Project creates locally owned pathways for global change, empowering people to protect their coasts, sustain their economies, and reconnect with the living systems that support us all.
For Academics & Policymakers:
We align with the developing Ocean literacy strategy for England and most recent research in this rapidly evolving topic. The Ocean Literacy Project operates at the intersection of science, education, and policy, advancing shared goals for Ocean-positive action across sectors and scales. Our framework complements and strengthens existing national, regional, and international Ocean literacy strategies, ensuring coherence with the UNESCO–IOC Ocean Literacy Framework, the Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021–2030), and the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 14 (Life Below Water).
Through collaboration with academic institutions, government agencies, and research networks, the Ocean Literacy Project contributes to:
Evidence-based policy development: translating the latest ocean science into accessible, actionable learning for educators, leaders, and citizens.
Curriculum innovation: supporting the integration of Ocean literacy into school, university, and professional education systems.
Research partnerships: that generate new data on behaviour change, social learning, and the links between environmental literacy, wellbeing, and regenerative action.
Knowledge exchange and capacity building: connecting scientists, policymakers, and communities through shared frameworks, metrics, and case studies.
By aligning with global efforts such as the UK Ocean Literacy Strategy, EU Mission Restore Our Ocean and Waters, and UN Ocean Decade programmes, the Ocean Literacy Project provides a scalable, systems-based model for embedding Ocean literacy within education, governance, and community practice.
